I-5: Fern Valley Interchange
This project was the West Coast's first diverging diamond interchange. The crossing diamond design was chosen to relieve heavy traffic congestion through the highly developed commercial and residential area on I-5 and Oregon 99 in Phoenix, Oregon. This project included the construction of two bridges, major concrete paving with ornamental stamped islands, roadwork, and landscaping. The complex multi-modal construction included new bike and pedestrian facilities throughout and a new transit stop.
Numerous stakeholders were involved during this project that contained multiple stages of construction and phasing of traffic patterns to construct this complex diverging diamond interchange. Throughout the construction process, collaboration with stakeholders was essential to ensure a successful outcome for all involved. From an open house prior to the start of construction, to meeting individually with stakeholders and emergency responders, Hamilton collaborated with the community to ensure local citizens and businesses were heard and kept informed of construction activities. |
