During our bridge-building history, we have partnered with private and public owners to deliver numerous complex railroad projects with demanding conditions on lines with heavy and light rail traffic. Our experience includes work for Class 1, regional, and shortline railroads. An increasing volume of work led to the creation of our specialized Rail Division in 2006.
Hamilton's Rail Division has developed methods to safely work around mainline traffic with little to no impact on rail traffic. We bring an established safety system of trained and qualified railroad personnel who are compliant with all FRA regulations and specific owner safety requirements. Our safety commitment extends to our subcontractors and suppliers, who are treated as integrated team members required to commit to our safety, quality, and environmental programs. Our dedicated Rail Division crews have years of experience building structures online and offline. They productively work around mainline traffic with little to no impact on rail traffic. We perform quick change-outs to achieve a high-quality result on accelerated schedules. Our railroad change-out windows have ranged from 6 to 32 hours, with the majority completed in 18 hours or less. Our team has expertise in alternative contract delivery, including CM/GC, Design-Build, and Progressive Design-Build. Our expertise includes providing constructability and design reviews, pre-planning, and developing logistics and contingency plans for difficult work in remote locations on major movable bridge and railroad projects. |
Bridge Replacement Project: "Hamilton Construction was our general contractor for the project and handled it with nothing short of excellence. Not only was this bridge in an environmentally sensitive area, which posed a very high fire risk for any hot work that would have to be done. This project required a bridge on both sides of UP bridge to access it over wetlands. Hamilton Construction was also tasked with installing the first 45-foot pre-stressed concrete box girder that weighed 86,000 lbs. and a 49-foot pre-stressed concrete box girder that weighed 97,000 lbs. All work was done while UP maintained 15 trains a day on the same tracks Hamilton Construction was achieving their work on a very tight schedule, with safety the most important part of the job." - UP Bridge Construction Supervisor |
